I am trying to find out the difference between orkut & Google Friend
Connect. Basically i am building a Web application. Lets say users can
submit any interesting blogs/pictures in my web-app. Now after
submitting, they should be able to share the same info with their
Orkut friends. For this
1) I would like to use open social REST API to retreive user's friends
from orkut. And then send the info/message to their "Messages" Inbox.
How i can acheive this?

I read some where about this
- With Orkut open social api, user should download my "orkut APP" in
to their orkut profile physically. Other wise i can not send any REST
API from my web-app for the currently logged-in user. ( might be the
issue with shared key). If this is the case, it is almost USELESS as i
cannot expect the user to download my orkut app into their profile. IS
THIS CORRECT?

As a workaround, some people suggested to use Google Friend Connect
REST API. So using this, i can just send invites to my orkut friends
with out actually installing orkut app. But if i send like this, is
this sends an email? or
can i send an actual message to my friends so that it will land into
my orkut friends "Messages" Inbox?

Also, i learned that i can not send any scrap from my web-app. The
best thing i can assume to make my web-app as social is sending a
message.

Sorry for the long text..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
