We found a security hole in gadgets rendering that the app reviewer should be blocking but wasn't. Right now the priority is protecting the users, so no automated reviews. Again everyone pays for a handful of bad apples.
Another headache is that the app reviewer takes too long to review an app after it's approved for the first time. This is also in the scope of this change. We'll start sending automated e-mails about problems in the spec next week, with instructions on how to fix your app. Basically it's the same set of requirements we ask upon submission: that it has an author, title, description, valid thumbnail, etc, and all resources are reachable. I predict most devs reading this already have correct specs, so the impact on you is likely to be small.
