I am pleased to officially announce that the Logical Domains community group, which was previously approved by the OGB, is now live.
Logical Domains, or LDoms, is a virtualization technology for servers based on the UltraSPARC CMT (Niagara/Rock) family of processors. It allows a user to allocate a system's various resources, such as CPU, memory, and I/O, into logical groupings. These logical groupings or domains can be used to create multiple discrete virtual machines, each with their own operating system, resources, and identity within a single computer system. One of our key goals in forming this community is to move multiple on-going LDoms discussions (both internal to Sun, and external to Sun), all to one place. This is where all customer, support engineer, and developer discussions can take place for the benefit of all. We encourage everyone interested in Logical Domains to join our discussion forum... The scope of the community is to work on the architecture, implementation, testing and release of virtualization software for UltraSPARC CMT servers. We also plan to work with the Xen, Zones and BrandZ communities on topics which are of common interest.
