Hi, I am delighted to announce that OpenSolaris is an officially accepted mentoring organization as part of this year's program. Here's your chance to earn $4,500 this summer and contribute to the OpenSolaris project! We are now accepting student proposals. These can be proposals based on the current list of suggestions on our project page -
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/summerofcode/projects/ or something entirely different that we haven't thought about. Interested students should go to the application page - http://groups.google.com/group/google-summer-of-code-announce/web/guide-to-the-gsoc-web-app-for-student-applicants and submit their proposals *NO LATER THAN 24th March*. We would like to host 5 projects this summer, though those numbers are entirely at the discretion of Google's choosing and likely to be based on the quality of the applications [1]. Best of luck! Glynn [1] Josh and the guys at PostgreSQL wrote up some excellent advice for students thinking about submitting proposals. While specific to PostgreSQL, there's some good tips that we'll all be looking at - http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/developer/summerofcodeadvice.html
