Hi all, We're happy to announce the 11th Irish OpenSolaris User Group meeting.
Topic: Lightning Talks & Installfest Date: Tuesday 26th June 2007 Time: 7pm onwards Location: DIT Kevin St, Lecture Theatre KE: G-007 This month, we're trying something new. We're going to hold a series of Lightning Talks[1] about all things OpenSolaris-related. The idea is, to do short 5-minute presentations, big on content, low on slideware - a high signal to noise ratio: if you're not interested in the current topic, just wait 5 minutes for the next! So far, we'll have talks on: BFU^HI - A Blindingly Fast Introduction to OpenSolaris June in review 2007 - some fast highlights But that's just the first 15 minutes - for this to work, we need participation from you lot: please send mail to the list if you'd be willing to give a 5-minute, 3-slide talk[2] next Tuesday, and what you're planning to speak about - we'll add you to the schedule at: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/ie-osug/iosug-11 We'll try to record the audio of the session if you can't make it in person. There's also going to be an install-server in the room, loaded with the latest sets of OpenSolaris bits in a variety of distributions, so bring along machines you'd like to have installed, or blank media to take copies of these images. Oh - June marks the 2nd Anniversary of the OpenSolaris project, so I'll try to bring along Birthday Cake as well :-) See you on Tuesday - note the venue change, thanks to the guys at DIT for helping us out there. Now hit "Reply", and get yourself added to the schedule!! cheers, tim [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_Talk [2] http://perl.plover.com/lt/osc2003/lightning-talks.html -- Tim Foster, Sun Microsystems Inc, Solaris Engineering Ops http://blogs.sun.com/timf
