Hello, We are going to be holding a special joint meeting with UNIGROUP members THIS WEEK (this week!) on Thursday evening (Oct 15th) @ 6pm.
Our usual location at Sun Microsystems' offices was unavailable due to a Java user group meeting taking place there, so instead we are going to be meeting jointly with UNIGROUP (as we've done in the past) at the place where UNIGROUP meets, which is at The Cooper Union School of Engineering new building at: 3rd Ave & 7th Street in Manhattan. The topic of our meeting is: Evolution of the Solaris Installer technology This will be a discussion (vs. a typical one-way presentation) on the topic of Solaris installer technologies and evolution thereof, with a focus on "what's new" in recent work. Of interest to Sun, in particular, are the expectations and desired-level functionality that customers and community want to see implemented. If you watched the webcast opening of Oracle OpenWorld on Sunday night, you heard Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, clearly spell out his intentions regarding Solaris, in particular. Our out-of-town visitor is David Miner, who is a Sr. Solaris engineer in Sun's Solaris engineering organization, with dozens of contributions across the Solaris ecosystem during his many years at Sun. He is recognized as a thought-provoking speaker and has spoken at many conferences - including recent OpenSolaris user group meetings and CommunityOne. He is also one of the co-authors of the recently published book entitled: "OpenSolaris Bible" [See: http://www.amazon.com/OpenSolaris-Bible-Wiley-Nicholas-Solter/dp/0470385480 ] For RSVP - please stay tuned for further details from Robert Weiner, UNIGROUP Chair - to hit this list shortly. An update will ALSO be posted on our main page @ opensolarix.com Thanks and hope to see you there! Isaac
