Networking in OpenSolaris
Date: Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Time: 5:30 pm -7:30 pm Location: Sun Microsystems, 281 Tresser
Boulevard #2, 12th floor, Stamford, CT 06901

This technical briefing will cover what's new and different in
OpenSolaris with respect to networking and includes Crossbow and other
networking enhancements that have gone into the operating system.
Project Crossbow is to Open Networking what ZFS is to Open Storage. It
extends a company's existing networking infrastructure and allows
system administrators to leverage extensive virtualization
capabilities built directly into the platform.

Project Crossbow is a major networking innovation in OpenSolaris
2009.06, but there are other significant additions:

? High availability networking through IP Multipathing has undergone a
major update
? Improved performance for sockets and new facilities for pluggable
sockets
? Enhancements for observing network traffic

Attend this briefing and hear from Steffen Weiberle, Systems Engineer
and OS Ambassador, Sun Microsystems, present Networking in
OpenSolaris. The briefing format encourages discussion and
participation from attendees. All attendees will get the book
OpenSolaris Bible by Nicholas A. Solter, Jerry Jelinek, and David Miner.
