One of the needs is for multiple displays, which are common on SPARC
and are becoming increasingly common on x86. While nearly all modern
displays have EDID, they don't have proximity sensors like Cube World.
So the display driver has no clue as to the display topology nor whether
the displays should be aggregated into a single X display or separate.
