That all depends on what standards apply to a given deployment. Given the motivation for this is alignment with NFSv4 and CIFS standards it basically comes down to which is more important (and depending on who you ask you will get different answers). However it may not be wise to change the existing default behaviour anyway. -- Darren J Moffat
