Oh, interesting question. The point of the prefix is to prevent naming conflicts in a namespace with no preset name allocation rules. But note that there is an IANA registry for the corresponding NFSv4 named attribute namespace (see section 17.1 of RFC3530); I've not checked if this is changing in NFSv4.1. Should the ARC ask that these attributes be registered with the IANA? Do note that the process set out by section 17.1 of RFC3530 is rather painful, requiring publication of an Informational RFC in order to register any named attributes.
