cdrdao has not been enhanced since several years. It comes with a   
very old and not Solaris 10+ aware version of libscg and it does not know   
about fine grained privileges.  
  
If you like to use it on Solaris, you need to do some work on the source...  
 
Cdrecord of course supports DAO and the CUE Sheet support in cdrecord is even 
better and more complete/correct than the cue sheet support in cdrdao. 
Cuttently the only known feature in cdrdao that is missing in 
cdrecord/cdda2wav is the ability to extract hidden Audio Tracks that live in 
the pregap of track 1.
