Sometimes its needed, but we should do everything possible to avoid it.
(In particular, it seems that many of the JDS/Gnome things don't require a reboot,... only a restart of something at the X-level or perhaps higher.) Are we doing enough to avoid reboots,... does this encourage it? - jek3
