Garrett asked me two followup questions about this fasttrack.
Firstly, I haven't addressed the Big Rule question regarding SPARC support with arcmsr. Secondly, why request integration into SUNWckr rather than create a new package? Re the Big Rule question: I don't currently have sufficient hbas (I only have one at the moment, courtesy of Areca's CEO) to test the driver on the SPARC platform. Delivering SPARC support in arcmsr is on the roadmap for Phase 2. Re the package integration choice: Since it is expected that arcmsr would provide attachment to a bootable OS target, I want to provide a buffer so that a system admin keen on minimisation would not inadvertently remove the driver supply access to their OS instance. Garrett mentioned that providing a SUNWarcmsr or similarly-named package would make it easier to minimise a system too. I'm not particularly wedded to one or the other choices for the package, and I would like to canvass the opinions of the wider community on this issue. Thankyou and best regards, James C.
