You need to compile in a standards-compliant (not compatibility)
environment. See libxnet(3LIB) and standards(5).
The short answer is to compile with:
-D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D__EXTENSIONS__
and link with "-lxnet" instead of the usual "-lsocket -lnsl".
