Unless and until we get a standard set of docs that definitively lists what is public, then in proposals like this one is the only place these interfaces are documented. You don't have to do this now, when you integrate make a list from the kstat output and send it so it gets added to the mail file. How hard is that?
The kstat info is obviously subject to change, and keeping a static copy somewhere that will be wrong quickly and then forevermore is pointless. This is NOT AN INTERFACE. Documenting the exactly nature of the present implementation is as useful as enumerating each space in the output of a command line tool whose interface is not-an-interface. Documenting something implies permanence; there is not point in doing so, because no useful results obtain from such effort. Anyone who wants to can look at the source for the tool that reads the kstats; that "documentation" is at least kept current. - Bart -- Bart Smaalders Solaris Kernel Performance [email protected] http://blogs.sun.com/barts "You will contribute more with mercurial than with thunderbird." _______________________________________________ opensolaris-arc mailing list [email protected]
