All,

I am sponsoring this case for Stefan Teleman of the SFW group.
The case directory contains this proposal and the appendix
material. I have set the timer for Thursday, May 6th, 2010.

This case proposes the removal of bwm-ng from a Minor release of
Solaris (i.e., Nevada). This component of SFW was only released in
Nevada.

Thanks,

John
Removing bwm-ng from SFW

1. Summary and Motivation

As part of the ongoing SFW Consolidation right-sizing project, this
Case announces the removal of bwm-ng Version 6.0 from the SFW
        Consolidation.

Bwm-ng was introduced in Nevada by PSARC/2009/160 [0]. This Case
relies on PSARC/2009/160 as its Reference ARC Case. All technical
considerations pertaining to bwm-ng have been addressed by
        PSARC/2009/160.

Bwm-ng has never been distributed with Solaris: it was only
        integrated and available in Nevada.

This Case seeks Micro/Patch release binding.

2. Technical Issues

2.1. Availability through OpenSolaris /contrib repository

The OpenSolaris /contrib repository [1] is a more appropriate
mechanism for delivering bwm-ng to interested consumers.

A separate and independent project will provide bwm-ng through
        the OpenSolaris /contrib repository.

        2.2. Objects subject to removal:

                /usr/bin/bwm-ng
                /usr/share/man/man1/bwm-ng.1
                /usr/share/bwm-ng/README
                /usr/share/bwm-ng/bwm-ng.css
                /usr/share/bwm-ng/bwm-ng.conf-example

3. Interfaces

        3.1. Interfaces subject to removal:

        Exported Interface Classification Interface Type
        ==================              ==============          ==============

        SUNWbwm-ng Uncommitted Package name
        /usr/bin/bwm-ng Uncommitted Command
