2. Project Summary
2.1. Project Description:
libnsl(3LIB) created a dependency on libscf(3LIB) when it made
the private function _check_services() SMF aware in
PSARC/2004/639. This dependency is undesirable because
libnsl(3LIB) provide functionality that libscf(3LIB) needs, such
as xdr_* interfaces used by libnvpair(3LIB) and
inet_pton(3SOCKET). In order to avoid a circular dependency,
this project will move this function and its
functionality to libscf(3LIB) and seeks patch binding.
This is a minor change to a private interface, though is required
for PSARC/2009/617 Software Events Notification Parameters CLI
and other planned work.
2.2. Risks and Assumptions:
This is a private library call and there are no contracts
registred in PSARC for its use in other consolidations. The
existing consumers will be explicitly linked to libscf(3LIB)
where necessary.
