Update GNU coreutils to 8.5
1. Summary
This fasttrack is a direct follow-on to:
PSARC/2007/048 Include GNU coreutils 6.7
and
PSARC/2009/355 GNU coreutils 7.4
It increments the version of GNU coreutils in OpenSolaris to 8.5.
Patch release binding is requested.
2. Discussion
GNU coreutils--the combination of GNU fileutils, GNU shellutils, and
GUN textutils--provide implementations of many common Unix utilities
as well as various enhancements and additional related utilities.
The version proposed here is the latest stable version available
and will replace version 7.4, which is currently in OpenSolaris.
3. Interfaces
PSARC/2009/355 section 3 describe the interface details
for the GNU coreutils 7.4 commands. The changes between 7.4 and 8.5
are described in the Coreutils.8.5.txt file in the case materials
directory. Each command retains the same stability level.
Between 7.4 and 8.5, the following new command was introduced:
/usr/bin/
nproc
Location Uncommitted
Invocation Uncommitted
Human-readable output Not an Interface
See the various man pages in the case materials directory for
more details.
