2. Project Summary
2.1. Project Description:
This case announces the EOF of Locale Administrator in Solaris.
It proposes a patch release binding for this EOF announcement
and minor release binding for the actual EOF.
4. Technical Description
PSARC/2002/571 introduced Locale Administrator command-line application,
which allows adding and removing locales on a running system on a per-region
basis. Locale Administrator is implemented around and dependent on the SVr4
packaging system.
The functionality provided by Locale Administrator (e.g. list installed
locale packages, install/remove a locale package, install/remove set of
packages to support given language) was superseded by PSARC/2008/190
"pkg(5): image packaging system". For this reason there was no effort
spent on making Locale Administrator available on the development release
of Solaris and with this case we would like to announce the removal of
Locale Administrator from the next minor release of Solaris.
DETAILS ON THE EOF
Once approved by ARC and Solaris P-Team, we will do the EOF announcement at
an S10 UR Release Notes.
