I am pretty sure that this change will break scripts whose purpose is to change a host's hostname. Assuming that OpenSolaris is still a Major-for-somethings release this is probably not a big deal. Two ways to improve the situation: a) update /etc/nodename from some service to reflect the nodename stored in SMF, b) on shutdown update SMF from the /etc/nodename file if it's different from what's in SMF.
