Wow, I have been running OpenSolaris for a few months now thinking how
fast it felt compared to that popular Unix like open source OS I
replaced it with. Viva OpenSolaris!
libmicro (which you can find in the performance forum) runs show that
DEBUG kernels can be several times slower than production kernels
for certain operations! But unless your workload is thrashing those
particular bottlenecks and doing little else it's often quite difficult
to notice the slowdown in normal interactive use.
