I am going to put my $0.02 here as well. I think its time that Sun should reconsider whether the Bourne shell is still an appropriate choice for a modern operating system like Solaris. The current choice is at least substantial portability problem for new applications and lacks all features and attributes of a modern Unix shell. I think it is time that Sun should name a successor (bash or ksh93) and work on implementing this.
