The SIGINFO thing (as signal only) seems to be a copy of what sdd star ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/sdd ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/star/alpha/ do on SunOS since 20 years using SIGQUIT. IIRC, FreeBSD also does something in the kernel if SIGINFO has the default interupt handler.
