I'm sorry to bother opensolaris people, but I'm hoping someone from
__Sun__ can give me some guidance about where to find a mailing list (no
web forums please) to post questions about java porting---where I will
find people who are _porting_ the jvm, rather than writing applications.

I'm trying to get sun jdk1.5 working on sparc linux 2.6 without a
pre-existing jvm. There are no porting guides at java.sun.com, and no
clues to any forum for anything but applications. I'd post there to some
random forum, but haven't had luck in the past getting useful responses
from web forums oriented to applications folks....

The sun build code says I don't have the right version of gcc (2.9
something?!?---I'd like to at least try gcc 4.1) and then it says I
don't have a working jvm. Some clues would be helpful for when there
just _isn't_ a working jvm and won't be one until the chicken is
hatched. This chicken/egg thing has been a problem for a long time, and
I've been able to avoid it by waiting for someone else to figure out how
to get a jvm working, (usually by spending a lot of time hacking the
build system, and using class files from another platform.)

Or is it time to just give up on Sun Java? Is Sun _ever_ going to fix
the chicken/egg problems? Writing a tiny java compiler in C for
bootstrapping purposes just doesn't seem that hard.... If not, I'd like
to know; that affects my decision...

Thanks,
