That's not really a question of the build itself but rather about
packaging and installation. I.e. not everything the build generates is
necessary to boot/run/use a given system.
You don't need to install everything, but you should build it - knowing
something "big" builds is a good first step towards good quality code.
It's frequent that your small mod somewhere breaks things big time
elsewhere - that's why you build all even if you don't plan to use all.
