Hello Marc-Andre!
> I would like to know if there is a *good* book on > the subject that would be worth buying, of if there are good tutorials on > the internet. I have "SPARC Architecture, Assembly Language Programming, and C" by Richard Paul (ISBN 0-13-025596-3). It's a nicely made book, but 8 years old by now. It was very expensive, too. I was vaguely disappointed. It mixes an introduction to very basic concepts with an introduction to Sparc assembly. Lots of reprinted headers and man pages where less might have been more. I have not worked through the book, though. There are some tutorials on Sparc assembly language on the net, but I think your best bet would be to start with small examples and use Google and the Sun documentation as you go along. Are you aware of the Reference Manual? It lives at: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-1681 IMHO, asking questions in this mailing list is OK, too. :-) Good luck -- Volker -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Volker A.
