HI,
I am new to solaris and is trying to get the sound drivers to work. I
downloaded OSS and installed it as follows.
pkgadd -d oss-solaris-v4.1-1052-i386.pkg
Rebooted the system and i could hear a sound during test.
But when i put a cd disc in the cd rom it plays with no sound.
In the device driver utility it says the sound hardware is a "high
definition audio controller",
Driver -oss-hd audio, device id-0x27d8.
How to tell if it has been installed or not. HOw to get it working. Please
advise.
The OSS packages are supported by 4Front.
In general, if you are running a build of OpenSolaris build 115 or
later, you'll get Boomer and won't need to install the OSS packages
unless you have an unusual audio device. Recent builds (121, 122) have
many fixes from earlier builds, and the particular device you have,
should work properly on such builds without needing the OSS packages.
Further questions can be direct to the opensound-disc...@opensolaris.org
alias.
