I can't speak for Oracle. *But*, here's what I *think* you can assume based on some of the information that is publicly available:
a) some ZFS features may only be available in earlier timeframes from Oracle via their fishworks (7000) series product line. b) there will be no more opensolaris releases c) the time frames that have been "conjectured" for any supported Solaris 11 product are 11/11/11 or later. (I personally think it would be nigh impossible to whip the current code base into a supported product earlier than that.) d) no word on what features such a product might or might not have, beyond what is already in OpenSolaris. e) Oracle doesn't like to give even that much information to anyone outside of NDA, and maybe not even with NDA. Upshot is, I doubt you'll have an answer for bp_rewrite on anything from Oracle except 7000 series (possibly) before 11/11/11, and even that is not certain. Its entirely possible that another source for bp_rewrite type tech may make itself known before then. - Garrett On Fri, 2010-09-10 at 08:36 -0700, Steeve Roy wrote: > I am currently preparing a big SAN deployment using ZFS.
