Speaking for myself, I use vi because I know it like the back of my hand. Switching to any other editor would be a real unnecessary pain for me. I like using ksh becuase I can use Esc-/ <string> to search for a previously run command containing <string>. I never use the cursor keys in vi, so being able to use them for command line editing is of very little value to me.
