Hello all. A few days ago, I decided to install and fiddle a bit with OpenSolaris (I'm coming mostly from a FreeBSD backgroud). The install went more or less smoothly, I began to setup a few applications, and, then, I tried to build the system from source (the 20050612 tarball, I think), following the instructions in the various docs. The, I used bfu, made the appropriate config updates, and rebooted. The system never came up. Grub appears, I launch the appropriate config, the first "SunOS 5.11..." message appears, then the screen goes black, and the machine reboots. Tried with different hardware, still the same. On the other hand, the "mini" recovery kernel installed with the system still boots normally, and gives me access to a shell. (And I have written down the different mountpoints.) So, my question is twofold : first, what can I do to investigate the problem, and, second, given that I have a emergency shell available, what can I do to recover the system ? I tried to look through the different Sun Docs, but it seems that nothing ever goes wrong in those... :) Fred
