The problem with that is since the Companion CD is only updated with new
Solaris releases, you'ld be stuck with whatever the latest version on a
companion CD is. For instance, Blastwave has shipped many newer
versions of things found on the Companion CD for Solaris 8 users since the
last Solaris 8 Companion CD was built several years ago. Blastwave can also
roll out security fixes much faster than "Wait for the next update release
cycle, if there is one."
