Suspend-to-RAM: biggest issue in Linux also >No support for this at all; but we have people working on it. >Casper The video card is ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, sound is Conexant AC-Link Audio. During normal operations, I measured a power consumption of 27W for Solaris 10 w/o your PowerNow driver, vs 22 W for Windows XP. However, the biggest is when I close the lid, causing the system to go into sleep mode (STR). Solaris would drop to 18W (due to video being turned off), vs zero (i.e., <0.5W) for Windows XP. STR is also highly desired for desktops, not just notebooks. For obvious reasons, if the progress of making STR to work under Solaris can be accelerated, this can really pull Solaris way ahead of Linux. It has been so frustrating to try to make STR work in Linux, people don't talk about it any more. This feature, if successrully implemented, can become a super duper milestone for S/OS.
