Solaris device drivers are far more than the Laptops drivers. The purposes to 
have such a drivers is trying to make the Solaris competitive at the device 
support with other OSes. 

Drivers common on SPARC,x86,x64 like mpt and other existing drivers on 
OpenSolaris;
Drivers x86/x64 only, most of which are to support the non-Sun machines like 
popular PCs and DELL servers. 

Of course, the drivers on laptops are also included. But as you said, these 
drivers are unique to Laptops, so it's better not to split these driver from 
the laptops community. It makes senses.

IMO, we'd better have an individual community for device driver, which will 
leverage from SPARC, x86, x64. This way, any questions, bugfix, RFE and 
contributions to drivers could easily go to a specific communtiy w/o 
interweaving w/ some Laptops unique characteristics. It's more like a general 
purpose community than that of Laptops or PowPC including some unique drivers 
as is.
