I am entirely happy with the decision by Sun management to bring in
Steve Christensen as the project lead on this. He has been working
with Solaris and the open source software package process longer than
anyone on the planet. He is supremely qualified and is an actual
scientist with both a brilliant mind and a personality that is easy to
work with. Quite frankly, he has all the credentials and the skills
to lead this project. The SunFreeware project has been in existence
for a incredibly long time and in the computer industry we need to
give credit to anyone that can run a stable public process for years.

The Blastwave project was created out of a grassroots movement and I
think that I have done all that one can do to foster it and direct it.
Now it is time to go to the OpenSolaris Community and see if we can
all work together to create a singular vision for open source software
packages. There will be great challenges ahead and I am only too
happy to work with Steve in this project. We need to cast aside any
misconceptions related to the strengths or weaknesses of a particular
software project and now look to the future. This is the OpenSolaris
Community and we have great strength in our resources. Let's pool
them together and work together.

Therefore let it be said that I want to throw all of my energies
towards working with Steve and my dream is that Solaris and
OpenSolaris can have a vast and rich field of options for users for a
very long time to come.
