My question is how far along is Portage from the Gentoo guys in OpenSolaris?
It is suppose to be an officially supported arch. I really would like to see
something like that in use.

This is really good news!

This is exactly what I've been missing, read previous thread:

all the packagers, engineers together and let them discuss the problems,
standards, etc etc.... !
Lets start the community now, why not? Define the problems in a central
location, not just the forum.

applications like Apache/MySQL, OpenSSL, OpenSSH, BIND, Sendmail etc), the
SUN way! Lofimounting, spec-files and all this.
