I've filed bug 6318879 and will try to get the fix into Nevada build 24.

The bug id does not appear on bugs.opensolaris.org - why are the bug
databases still separated?

It should in a day or two. The external is a subset of the internal,
(since the internal covers all Sun products, not just OpenSolaris) and
I'm not sure of the synchronization rate between the two - the people
in the website-discuss forum know much more about the bug web pages/db.

/usr/X11/demo/glxgears

Why is glxgears in X11/demo? All others (bsd, linux) store it in X11/bin

Because it's just a demo program? The engineer who did the Mesa integration
work listed that as the proposed home and no one objected.

(And while I wish we could claim a standard layout for X software, I think
it's hopeless. We're moving to /usr/X11 on Solaris at the same time a
bunch of Linux distros are moving all their X bits into /usr/bin & /usr/lib,
because they don't like heirarchal namespaces and prefer directories with
 thousands of entries.)
