I don't think that will specifically happen here, certainly not any time
soon.  But I think if enough people bug both TOG and the contributing
companies, it could happen.  Insofar as they aren't promoting CDE, they're
not making money off of it, yet they have to maintain it for backwards
compatibility.  If it were more or less open, more maintenance could get
done for no additional investment on their part.  Happier customers, more
repeat business...
