Disclaimer: *I know very little about file systems*
With all the discussion about porting ReiserFS and other filesystems to
OpenSolaris I wondering whether it is possible to have a glue code in the
kernel that can delegate all the filesystem operations to the user-level code
and do it in a safe manner (meaning that a bug in the filesystem code should
not bring down the whole system)? This will allow easy additions of new file
systems to OpenSolaris and may (***) allow some GPL-ed file system code in
user-land. Not that I know how to write such glue code.
(***) Please do not see this as an opportunity to start another GPL vs CDDL
discussion.
