Thanks for the help. However, I couldn't find where discussions on dual-booting XP/Solaris are covered? BTW, while the Linux version of GRUB does not understand the Solaris UFS partition, the "makeactive "command makes it possible for Solaris to be chainloaded from Linux a boot. What I still don't understand is, whether it is possible to install the Solaris version of GRUB on the first sector of the partition where Solaris (or more specifically, the Solaris boot sector) is installed? Most Linux distros ask you this option during installation (i.e., do you want to install GRUB in the MBR or the first sector of a specific partition). I don't remember this question being asked during Solaris installation.
