One of the places that can really make an instant difference (in promoting
StarOffice, and utimately Solaris) is Sun's legal department.

Sir Scott can demand (& no exception allowed) what file format Sun's outside
counsels use when they deal with Sun's lawyers. Sun's Legal Dept can use part
of the money that it has budgeted to purchase Microsoft Office licenses to
develop macros & templates that law offices need in order to switch from MSO to
StarOffice. (With more than 1.25 million lawyers in the US alone, there is a
potential of 3 million StarOffice/Solaris seats that can be easily realized.)

Microsoft has been using its Windows-only Office suite to frustrate any attempt
by businesses to switch into Linux (desktops). Ironically, Microsoft might
have done Sun a great favor in preserving this market for later exploitation.
StarOffice may become a potent weapon to trigger a sweeping migration into
Solaris/OpenSolaris.
