Mplayer does indeed play some (if not all) WMA files, but you need
the windows codecs and I'm not sure blastwave installs them.  I
don't think they do (though I've never installed mplayer from
blastwave).  It's worth trying certainly.  At worst, you'll have to
install the codecs manually (which is what I was referring to when I
said "playing some serious games").
