hello Robert Milkowski
I understand that to create the links manually,
but I do not understand why does it need an SMF because chkconfig is not a service
you may be asking me about svcadmin, on registering the new SMFs, yeah then its a point..but I am more interested in a startup script..which does some reporting operations while starting and nothing at the shutdown/reboot option..so no need of SMF stuff here
which SMF could have been otherwise useful if it the script was something like a service..

You've got to make links manually...
But it would be much better if you put this script under SMF which is
new framework for managing services and dependencies between them. You
can find more info at smf community - http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/smf/
