Something else confused me: I have read in a couple of places that Solaris 9
uses gnome insted of cde, but mine is definitely 9 and definitely cde, is there

said, I know very little - a pointer to a tutorial is as welcome as a full
explanation :-)
Go to opensolaris.org, download and install the latest build. You then
have access to the source you are running. Combine that with
docs.sun.com and Rich Teer's book and you will be well on your way.
