The most important thing to do is to set your .make.machines
file to have an appropriate amount of parallelism. This
depends on cpu count and ratio of disk speed to cpu. I run
my 2 processor Opteron like this:
The SUNWonbld package creates a /.make.machines based on
calculating what could be best based on number of CPUS and speed.
I have my ~/.make.machines just be a symlink to /.make.machines.
Many thanks indeed for the info. I might just try pushing
the value up, and see what happens.
