(This is something I was writing up about Belenix, but
feel free to use it...)
Belenix 0.2 shows an incredible approach to what can
be done using OpenSolaris and a little elbow grease.
I sat done and loaded up a copy of Belenix 0.2. Things
were a little slow with the "DEBUG ON" feature
enabled, yet within 10-15 minutes I had XfCE 4.2.0 up
on my screen with Firebox 1.5b2 and SuperTux 0.1.3 to
play around with. Belenix came with Xorg 6.9 (CVS)
which detect and utilized my Nvidia card rather well
through the test without any crashes during my
windowing sessions.
Being a LiveCD, you just have to be used to your apps
being pulled from the drive. Since I used other
LiveCDs, this wasn't as bad as it may seen to
newcomers.
OpenSolaris build 20 comes with Belenix 0.2 which
seems stable through my rigorous testing of loading
various apps at the same time and a period of game
play.
On the short note, the Belenix team has pulled it off
in showing OpenSolaris as a Live CD product.
Hopefully, I like to see OpenOffice come the next
release of the CD...
