fwiw, remounting a UFS file system from r/w to r/o is not implemented, check 
remountfs()

I vaguely remember that this is not a particular good idea for "/", this can 
trigger all sorts 
of hangs because the devfs code may call into UFS to get and set file 
attributes,
because of the write lock it'll be blocked, other activities may depend on it 
and the system may
eventually wedge.
