I tried to convince myself of sun4m support for many
days. Until, I ported FlightGear to Solaris 8 and
tossed up my hands towards my Sun SS5 workstation - I
need more POWER!!! ;o>

The Sun SPARCstation 5 is good for many things and
served me well in the data center, yet I do miss
playing around with VIS extensions and MediaLib for
SPARCv8 and SPARCv9. I think sun4m support has a place
in many educational and government institutes - as
well as many data centers. Solaris 9 can carry the
ball in that regard as well as Sun Studio 10.

As for Solaris 10 adding back sun4m support???? I
don't think it is unreasonable to want the current
Solaris 10 release (b28) on sun4m hardware.
Understanding what it took to get b28 (Solaris 11)
where it is today, may have had some sacrifices that
had to be made like sun4m support - but it doesn't
mean clever ISVs can't find SOME way to bring Solaris
10 back to sun4m. I wouldn't expect Sun to do it
anytime soon though....
