Seeking comments:

I'm thinking we need a server mini-distro ISO. The idea would be to facilitate creating servers cafeteria-style... in other words, à la carte (ALaCartiX?).

Basically it would go something like this:

a) Install the ISO.
b) Add your favorite auto-update tool[1].
c) Point it at your desired set of server packages from your favorite binary package repository[2].
d) Turn it loose.

Now that Joerg -- followed by Moinak and Nexenta -- have developed and documented how to create OpenSolaris ISOs w/ HDD installation, and now that the packaging tools binaries have been relicensed, I would think this would be really easy to do.
