kmdb would have been much simpler had it been able to cause itself to unload
after deactivation. See umem_startup() (the UMEM_STANDALONE case) for the
fragile hoops through which I had to jump to get libumem to reinitialize
properly. Not libumem's fault at all -- it just wasn't prepared for statics to
be non-zero at (re)initialization.
