This is a big problem for those of us who use more than one (often three!) languages simultaneously. I need to switch between three different languages in three different e-mails, and if I have to go log out and do `kdmconfig` every time, wouldn't you agree that's not very practical? I believe one should look up to WindowsXP as far as keyboard layout switching is concerned. MS has solved it most elegantly ([ALT] or [CONTROL] + [SHIFT] switches input locale).
